Or Scott Pilgrim vs. The Universe: For Reals This Time
Sort of a gift art for *radiomaru. At comiccon during the SP6 panel, he made an off hand comment about maybe doing a straight up sci fi story in a different setting with the Scott Pilgrim characters (he was joking). That was something that used to happen in anime. I don't know if it still does. Like, there are all these Project A-ko movies where the characters are all high school students and then suddenly there's another movie where they're bounty hunters in space.
So yeah, Scott and Gideon are partners in the Space Detectives (or something) and I guess Ramona is, like, a space pirate now?
Also, this is the first thing I've colored in a while and I hope my monitor is calibrated well. Does this coloring look like ass to you?
Naw; most spinoffs of anime usually involve turning it into a magical girl series, like how Tenchi Muyo became Pretty Sammy and Sasami: Magical Girl Club, or like how The Soul Taker became Nurse Witch Komugi
I like this idea of Scot working together with Gideon and having to fight Ramona. That just seems like a facinating reversal of roles that could be explored further.
As do I. I actually have a strong desire to either see O'Malley make this a reality or otherwise develop a fan fiction around it as a result. WHO IS WITH ME!

in bed... What? You expect me to take the time to type some clever whitty joke or story here? WELL I HAVE A LIFE TO GET BACK TO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! (not really)
Project A-Ko was always sci-fi, though. Yeah, they were high school students, but A-Ko always had super powers and B-Ko had some kind of mech or power armor in the first OVA, so making a leap to space wasn't a big deal. It was always done tongue-in-cheek anyway. I can't think of a single anime series that was a simple, down-to-earth drama with high school students or regular people or whatever that went on to be hard sci-fi or space fantasy with the same characters later

And all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us" and I'll whisper "No".
